Hi Nigel, the one you have in your R500 (QBE60G if I remember correctly) won't cope with what I want to put through it. Hence me looking at the Drenth DG400.
I know Quaife had issues with the first 60G boxes, regarding oil leaks etc. But from what I can make out, haven't they made some mod's lately?
I bought a diff from Quaife recently, and there was initialy a hicup with my order, but it was dealt with quickly, and efficiently. I have to say, I found them great to deal with.
I know it's a bit of a bugger when new kit gives problems, but if it's sorted without quibbles, I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again.
I do like the Drenth box though, and I haven't heard a bad thing about them. They have also been realy helpfull with information. The only thing that's giving me doubts, is a small matter of 22mm !
Oh, and the newsletter wasn't anything to do with me, it's what Quaife sent to me.

ATB diff. Have you ever heard of one breaking? I haven't.
The 60G is rated up to 450 BHP, but I doubt it would take it.
Interesting to note, is that I bought a complete new diff unit from Quaife, with the ATB unit fitted, and the casing was a ford one, not with the Quaife markings as in the pictures on the website. I wonder if Quaife still have a stock of new casings? It does look spanking shiny new, and not a refurb.

Yes you're correct, they don't like to be curb hopped. But my car will be 99.9% road use, on a weekend.
Also, I was told that my car would be practically uncontrollable with a plate diff with the power I'm intending to put in it. (Insane engineering excercise! )
Russell Savory fitted the Quaife untits in the Caterham Levante, and I was told he fitted a plate diff in one, at a customers request. Drove it once, brought it straight back, and swapped the diff for the ATB unit.

Mmmm...like you say each to their own. You can ask 20 people on their, oppinion, and get 20 different answers. I guess the only way, is to suck it and see.
I had some good advice, and listened to it. Last thing I need is a diff that locks up agressivley. If it wasn't good advice, it's not a big deal to swap the diff out and try something else.
Anyway, It'll be interesting to see how this new Quiafe box performs next year.

I've tried the high power 7 route (270bhp/196lbft) using 250 section soft compound slicks and we struggled with traction. Car weighed 475kgs and was setup to maximise traction with the damper setup for hillclimbs, any more power would have been a waste as it could only be used over 70 + mph
Currently going the BEC route with a 1400 busa in a 7 , 210bhp/110 lbft 420kgs, the relative lack of torque compared to the old vx engine enables you to get on the power more as it doesn't overwelm the tyres and as a package it is quicker overall
