Hi all,
Just been doing a bit of a research towards adding heated seats to my van, and thought "ahh ha, maybe someone would like to add this to their 7"
If so, obviously people with tillets will require some kind of padding added to hide the heating element in, leather seats are fine to do. It's very DIY'able as well.
It's something I'm going to add to my 7 when I find one that I like, I recon it'll help for those early morning blasts.
If anyone wants any more info let me know.

Dan,
Are you sure a 7 is for you? They're great, but I doub't even putting on eof those airport lounge massaging chairs in would make em comfortable =)
only kidding, every superlight I've ever driven has been fitted with a heater - and despite "the fact that makes me gay", it also made me warm and gay. Which is fine by me.

A while ago, a friend who had just rebuilt his S type seats had this idea just after he finished glueing the bits into place! He commented that it would be very easy and relatively inexpensive to get it sorted but it was a bit too late for his project.
Moving forward to Stoneleigh, May 2009, I was having a similar chat to CC's Andy Noble and he said there were certain plans on the cards for a touring seven with a more comfortable specification and heated seats could be incorporated there. I pointed out that a lot of current owners have moved over to tillet seats even for touring (far more comfortable I reckon than the S types) and incorporating a heating pad in the Oxted seat cover should be relatively straightforward. Andy took the idea away with him so who know's, maybe something is in the pipeline....

I think its a great idea and there's nothing wrong with incorporating a bit of comfort with the thrill of driving a 7. We all have our different levels of acceptance and should respect the preferances of others (so long as it doesen't encroach offensively, it's a personal choice).
Having said that, I think this is the Caterham your looking for.

It has every conceivable comfort you could wish for in a 7 - except heated seats. If you buy it you can fit it out and toast your a** to your hearts content this winter.
Personally I prefer a bit of RAW MEAT.
Cheers

He's let the warmth factor down with the alloy gear nob, the user might have to don a pair of moleskin gloves to be fully able to drive the car properly without fear of the dreaded, but not fatal, "coldy woldy hand syndrome"Having said that, I think this is the Caterham your looking for.

If you can find something like this
http://www.dcp-shop.co.uk/buy-car-accessories/prod...
but narrower (if for a 7) it would work well. Had this type in a car in Sweden (all cars come with heated seats as standard there).
Worked fine and are pretty light!

Wickham Squaer car show boxing day last year was very cold.
I have pr "S" type seats and parts of the back rest just pull on and off with velcro, I took out the part at the bottom and replaced them with microwaveable bags, like a hot water bottle but dry, this kept us toasty.
The show was so much better as we were not cold on arrival staying warmer for longer.

I'm planning to fit these to the seven I'm building:

I haven't actually got any seats yet, but will be finding some that will let me use these. I've fitted them to my elise and they make topless driving in the cold a lot more pleasant.
