those Ali race jacks from blatchat
Discussion
did anyone get one ?
mine isn't working and i coudl really use some help
It has a slotted screw on the top plate and also 2 hex head grub screws
i tightened the main screw up
the 2 hex head grub screws i opened
I pushed the piston in and some oil came out of these
but after tightening everything back up (without sucking any air back in) the jack does the same thing ... it will go up but then once it starts to support any weight you just pump it forever and it does not actually go up any further
would appreciate any pointers

Seems to be a common occurence, Blatchat thread gives seal sizes if they need replacing.

Mine gave up too. Be interested to know if the new seals work. Can't be bothered trawling BC to find out what the problem is, 14 pages of being told "you are bloody well lucky to have paid money for the thing in the first place people gave up their free time to do this for free doncha know" is more than I can take

so that makes... let me think... 4 bangs and about 8 no bangs
so thats a 50% failure rate
Hmmm . ... it's actually 33% fail rate so thats a 50% failure rate
Imagine 33% of all 5 series BMWs across the world spontaneously combusting !

As funny as the entire French air force crashing into a fireworks factoryBTW my jack failed too, I replaced the hydraulics with a cheap (£13 trade price bargain) draper one, rough calculations reckon it's good for abour 400kg (lever rates all different) which is fine for race weekends.
My jack suffered seal failure early on.
Replaced seals and removed swarf from everywhere, refilled with new fluid.
Has worked fine for the last few years.
I've passed it on now, so I expect it will now go wrong!
Colin or Pete if you're reading this, I hope it works as well for you as it did for me after I rebuilt it!

Paul, are the seals square section seals, like brake piston seals, or o-ring type seals? Can you recall the sizes and the supplier you used? thks
