There seem to be quite a few bolts that stick out of the bottom of my Caterham. Maybe 1cm to 2cm in length that seems "unused". I'm a bit worried about these catching on ramps, speed humps etc - one has already caught on my trailer. Is it OK to dremmel these down, or is there lots left exposed for a reason?

Where are these bolts? There are no bolts under my car that aren't being used.

I'm sure they're being used - there are about six of them I think, symmetrical down the centre of the car. The bolts just don't need to be as long as they are, so they're poking out underneath.

The seat runner retaining bolts? Cropped them level with the nut on my CSR or you could maybe reverse the bolts?

yep sounds like seat runner bolts, and possibly crutch strap securing bolts. Chop them off, as long as you can still get the nuts off - real PITA if you can't smile

Be aware that if you mangle the ends, you may be able to get the nuts off afterwards but could find they won't go back on. So if you do cut them, be sure to cut them off absolutely square and avoid damaging the ends of the thread.

Or put another nut on, cut them off and then use that nut to re-cut the thread.
