Most important measurement for a race suit?
Discussion
Thinking of buying a race suit online, but I am unsure about which measurement is more important. I am quite slim, so waist-wise I'd be in the lower size however, I am 5ft11', which would put me a couple of sizes above. I guess it is more important to buy a suit that fits my height even if it's loosely-fitted at the waist, right?
For an extra £50, have one that fits http://www.advanced-wear.co.uk/m2m.html
I'm tall and fairly slim. When I got my orange babygrow for marshalling I tried a few but they were either far to baggy to get the right length, or cutting me in half to get the right waist. Ended up having one made instead. The last thing you want to buy is a suit that digs into your crotch just so that you don't look like Jacques Villeneuve. Try a couple for size if you can but the best way is probably to have one made to measure.

what's the ballpark figure for a Stand21 custom suit (assuming no extra graphics/embroidery or extra coloured panels are included)? thks
Can't recall tbh, and have just had a quick scan through my files and can't find the invoice (was bought 7yrs ago). Couple of hundred quid sounds about right...Murph7355 said:

Andy, their 'base' suit now costs around £650, which when you add the custom option on top, there's not a lot of change from £1000! That's inflation for you!
Or a mind conditioned to ignoring, possibly even deliberately blanking, the true cost of fripperies I'm fairly sure my suit cost much less than my helmet, and that was sub 600 quid.
Quality gear though - the helmets are definitely worth a try for those with any difficulty with helmet size/shape (being John Merrick's bigger headed brother, I fit right into that category. Head like a massive Nik Nak).
