Hi guys,
Further to Tim's post regarding the Supersport that is avialable to hire through Roadsporthire, I had the pleasure of a very special long weekend behind the wheel.
Firstly I can only thank Scott and Lynda for making an exception allowing a 24 yo to drive the car, even with a slighty hgher excess I didn't have to think twice about it.
Thankfully the weather was gorgeous all weekend which really allowed me to make the most of the car. It really was such an event to drive, whether tootling around Sheffield or pushing it in the Peak District.
Strapping myself into the four point harness and pressing the starter button just added to the experience, I was grinning even before leaving the drive way. Of course I did the obligatory stall when pulling out of the drive but I understand that this is commmon practise.
My girlfriend joined me on a drive to Chatsworth on the Saturday morning, I know that up until then she had always questioned why I liked cars so much, however now she's been bitten by the bug too. So much so, that she wants to go halves with my next time and she doesn't even want to drive it!!
I enjoyed a blast in the Peak district on the Friday, over to Monsal Head and then round the the Lady Bower and Derwent reseviors. I met up with a mate in his 111R on the snakes pass on Saturday and we were mobbed when parking up in the local pub.
All in all, the whole experience was so enjoyable, and like many others on here now there's no going back for me! Anyone got a spare £10k or so??

Some heritage
I can't tell you how depressing it was to clamber back into my Suzuki Swift for the journey back home
Anyway thanks again and I can only recommend roadsporthire!!
Cheers
Adam

I think it looks hilarious next to the Lambo. I suppose it's a couple of hundred kilos lighter than the elise. Interesting to see how it got on as I've always fancied a 111R.
Scott,I think I had way more fun in the Caterham than the Lotus, which was confirmed when I took the owner for a spin in the Supersport and he was blown away by the rawness and the experience as a whole.
We had a couple of others out with us that day and they were fighting for a ride in the Supersport rather than the Elise. It's quite funny how normal the Caterham makes the Elise look, luxurious actually! On the snakes pass I was pressing on more than the 111R, he had a spin in the wet recently so was being a tad more cautious. On other occassions where we were both making time he was stuck to my bumper though! It was such a blast to have a similar car to go for a drive out with. All in all I think the driver makes the ultimate difference, and there didn't appear to be a massive difference in performance.
I can't imagine there would be much in it between a 111R and your new 'Gulf' liveried car....
Interesting Adam - I think you're right. It's just best to think of them both a fantastic but different.I was worried we'd overdone it a bit with the Gulf car but it was out today and the chap loved it. Still not much use for touring without a spare wheel.
We're going to The Big Breakfast on sun then heading off for some filming. Got a camera mount for the outside of the car but have had premonitions of many tiny bits of camcorder scattered across the Moors roads.
Cheers

You'd better be careful with the 'Gulf' car. It'll make my life much harded when I borrow it next week for the photoshoot if its bashed, dented and in bits. See you then.
Regards
Tim
I hear you Tim!
Was out for a bit today and the camera mount is good fun. Had it on the rear arch pointing forward and back - pretty good and will get a chase view of the other car. Pointing forward, the mirror seems to get in the way a bit so took the door off and got battered to bits in the wind!
Inside the widnscreen - not too bad. On the front of the bonnet pointing backwards is interesting. Best however is right at the bottom of the car under the door pointing forward. Seeing the supension work is fab.
Most importantly however - it stays on and the camcorder is in one bit!
