I have been in contact with Autocom about a proposed bulk buy of communication kits and headsets.

Their web page is here : www.autocom.co.uk/
and shows the various parts and combinations.

The standard spec that I have asked for pricing on is set out below:

1 x Pro-7 Sport Unit (Part number 4)
2 x New 7 pin Ear-defender Headset. Suitable for open top cars, microlights (Part 20)
1 x 1.5 metre Phone lead (Part 50) – some owners may need an special adapter for their phone
1 x 1.5 metre Music lead (Part 60) – for battery powered music players
1 x Hardwired Power lead (Part 152) – for hardwiring unit into car rather than batteries - but may make it difficult to remove the unit when parked

This is just my best guess as to what people would want based on what I require. Various parts can be viewed on the website using the parts numbers above.

There have been various comments on this equipment previously, but to give you an idea of the quality I understand there was a bulk buy last year of about 24 kits for members of the The 7evens List.

The proposed discount is :

Original price for the above set of kit : £476.50
Discount price for bulk buy of 10 : £408 (saving of £68.50)
Discount price for bulk buy of 15 : £385 (saving of £91.50!!)
There would be more of a discount for higher numbers.

Any of you trackday stars who want a set for use only in helmets without the headsets the price would be significantly less. The retail price for each Ear-defender Headset is £140 whereas helmet units are £40 so for a bulk buy of 15 my estimate of cost would be £235!!!! (note - my best guess only - price for this setup to be confirmed)

To take part in this bulk buy please email me at mark@seven-ecstasy.co.uk advising if you are definite or maybe, and what your required specification would be. I will give this about 2 weeks and if we reach a suitable number I will get it rolling.

Before you ask - the only benefit I get from organising this is the same discount on a kit as everyone else. I have no link (financial or otherwise) with Autocom. I do not vouch for the quality of the kit as I have not yet tried it. If any other existing owners of this gear would like to comment on + or - please do so.
