A fantastic weekend
Discussion
I turned 30 last week and the good lady wife hired me a Roadsport SV Duratec from Mark on Europe.
We had the car for the weekend so as to get a good idea for it and took it up to the Cotswolds for a weekend away.
I now see what all the Caterham fuss is about! The car was fantastic, go-kart like handling and plenty of pace. Every time I tried to up my cornering speeds, the car just took it in it's stride, not even feeling that loaded up. Maybe it was laughing at me!?
It really was an assault on the senses though, I had to find a Boots and get some ear plugs for us both so that we didn't end up with tinnitus!
I had always ignored Caterhams due to the higher costs when compared with things like the MNR variants.
Upon looking into it once we got back it appears the true cost of ownership isn't that high as the depreciation is so so low.
I'm going to hire the car again and take it out on an airfield day to get more of a feel for it. Then I'll look at the purchasing options. An R300SV is quite tempting!
