Is there anyone that frequents this forum that's entered in the 2010 Academy?

I'm expecting my car in November and have been looking at some previous season's race footage - it seems that there is usually a fair amount of carnage on the track or am I just looking at a few isolated incidents and coming to the wrong conclusion?!

I'm looking toward to it although I do hope it's not going to be too expensive a lesson.

TBH its not that bad although for the last 2 seasons at least one car has managed to roll. I believe they may of had 2 this year although Donald Lamb's barrel roll at donny last year still takes it. Worth a watch on vimeo if you can find it. Very tough little cars.

Plenty of footage kicking around on the caterham racing forum I think you'll find.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a ball.

Yep, you'll love it

Also remember that not many people re-distribute footage of people driving round and round endlessly without incident smile

I'm signed up for next year's academy - car is due in January although I'm hoping it will be sooner to give just that bit more time before the season starts.

Looking forward to it but know I'm going to be sh*tting myself as the first event gets ever closer!!!!

To be fair, someone will always manage to have a spectacular accident, but from my experience the academy was relatively clean and the carnage only begins once you've hit (no pun) the higher classes hehe

Mine is due end of November so they tell me. It's a factory build which they say they can deliver quicker than the kits at the moment - I take it yours is a kit?

I don't think anything can prepare me/us for the first competitive event. The buzz will be tremendous. I've never even done a car trackday before - I do hope I'm not the slowest but someone's got to be!

Yep, I opted for the kit as I thought it would be; a) Good fun to do and, b) Good to have some idea of how the thing was put together should it need some further "attention" throughout the season!! I am planning to try and get to see the last round of this year's Academy. Have you been to any earlier rounds yet to get more familiar with the whole set up??

I've not been to the earlier rounds as I only decided to join the Academy a few weeks ago. Also, I can't make the last round - it's Mallory on the 27th I think? It would have been good to see how it all works.

You're right about building the car - it will give you a good idea about how to put it back together again. I tell myself I would like to have built my own but it's a question of having the time to commit and wanting to commit the time + I'd rather be driving it than building it. I'm a bit impatient like that!
