Recently seen a 2.3 duratec caterham in Classifieds which has recently been sold. Could not help noticing the 5" carbon head lamps which were quoted. Does anyone know any info on this item and where to find them?

As for R500 as announed in forum http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... R500 Owner :-

Work has taken its toll, however keen to drive to the UK in the Autumn for a Minster and Freestyle home coming (built by Gary). Also fancy a meet up with Penn 7's as I live a healthy blat down the road from Penn in the Chilterns when I get home which is not very often these days.

Being in South France I was thinking of a blat across the Pyrenees to Santander and getting the ferry to Portsmouth - any thoughts anyone?

Apart from the odd K-series Click which I can deal with its been running like a dream. Lots of Italians down here on holiday in South France, I parked out side the Casino at Juan Les Pins next to Bagatti's and Ferrari's and the interest in my car was unbelievable! The Italians love it!!

I had a set of them on V7. Superb quality. I'll be after another set for the new one too.

I've got a set made by Mickmade on Blatchat. Very nice. I prefer the shape of those over the Fluke ones. The Fluke's are deeper.

You may get an idea here:

I was once asked why I had fitted fake carbon headlights. I asked if any of the other parts were fake? No, he said, and that was why it made him wonder... He was slightly surprised when I showed him the inside of the lamps...

Rejin,

Does Mick carry stock, or make to order, or does he only make a batch and sell them there and then?

I'm aware of the quality of his products. I have no problem with the Fluke/MOG stuff either, but I'd be interested in Mick's too.

Are Mick's more expensive?

Nigel,

Sorry for the delay, haven't been here for a while.

I don't think Mick hold them in stock, but I could ask him to get in touch with you.

I would say that he's a lot cheaper than MOG, but you'll need to trim them yourself, and you also need a donor set to make them work as you'll only get the bare shells.

Ah, in that case I might stick with MOG then. I was very happy with theirs, but I've been aware of the quality of Mick's stuff for a while now and I would have tried them out of general curiosity. But, I'm not really ready for trimming my own and I'm starting the new build from absolute scratch so I don't have any donor parts.

On Mick's I'm curious particularly how the lenses fit into the retaining rings, and how the rings fit to the main shells. Any pics of the assembly?

MOG lenses are siliconed in, which I originally thought an unsatisfactory solution, however it works extremely well, and can be removed relatively easily with a sharp knife. It has the added benefits of being totally waterproof and gives a little vibration resistance too.

I'm going to investigate HID lights for the new build. I have no idea whether they will use the standard lenses or something new, but I will definitely stick them into CF shells.

Thanks for the answers.
