Hi,

I've finally got round to putting some Yokohama A021R tyres on my 1.6 K series classic. As with my previous tyres (Avon CR322), they are 185/70/R13 both front and rear. Can anybody recommend a good starting point for general road driving? I used to run the CR322s at 20psi cold, but initially the 21s seemed a bit 'bouncy' at 20psi.

Secondly:

Is the Supersport cam/ecu upgrade worth doing? Does it make a noticable difference in drivability? The jump from 120bhp to 135bhp sounds ok, but it is quite expensive.

Regards

Ian

I normally run 17psi cold in those tyres myself.

You can never have enough power. My Supersport was further upgraded in the head department and thats a lot of fun. Some people may suggest a gearbox upgrade to 6 speed as well.

If you are a little bored with 120 then I think you should consider a Supersport upgrade but everyone is different. May be worth seeing if you can try a car with the conversion and make your mind up from there.

Mine is now 160bhp and thats enjoyable for track and road use. It started as a Supersport but the Cams were replaced and an Emerald ECU with Throttle Bodies added.

18psi cold and re: the upgrade route, you won't want to look here http://www.dvapower.co.uk/. General wisdom is that you give Dave a call first and decide where you want to end up and he can give you an idea of costs and potential stages, so you don't end up buying stuff twice or wasting money on kit that is not suitable for your application.

I like a revvy engine, so my 1.4 Supersport is nice, but I know those who have upgraded to a 1.8 who love them.
