is there a waiting list for a new r500?

Doesn't seem to be any for sale 2nd hand yet so just wondering if theres much of a wait on a new r500? Also how much do they normally come out at factory built?

Don't know specifically about the R500 but I was told there are currently waiting lists for both kit and completed cars well into the summer months at present.

Reductions in staff combined with higher than expected demand apparently. Also fewer cars around second hand than might be usual at this time of year, possibly on the back of a strong Euro and rising continental demand!

There is normally a 14 - 16 week wait for any model regardless of spec or build level. They're quoting early June delivery at the moment so if you want one for the summer you'll have to be quick.

I doubt very much you will find a used one for some time yet, I think the first customer only took delivery about 4 months ago.

I ordered a car a couple of weeks ago, and will get delivery (self build) mid may.

Me thinks the lead time is longer for an R500! I would expect you can get it around June/July

Well I finally collected my New R500 from the factory last Friday.

I actually ordered the Car as a kit from Caterham back in April 2008.

The kit was delivered to me in mid September, I believe it was the very first kit R500 to be delivered.

So I waited about 5 months for it.

Whilst we were at the factory we wondered around, and noticed a lot of New R500's in build, believe it or not most of them for export, one was about to go to Singapore.

We were told that the wait time for a new R500 in factory build is about 9 months at the moment.

The factory is the busiest I have ever seen it, in the last 10 years of personal Caterham ownership.

9 months wait - dont think so. You'd be looking to get into it June or July if you order soon, I was asking the guys in there at the weekend how the order take was going and they confirmed the wait is about 5 months.

I ordered today and am very happy with the lead time that i was given. I should be able to see most of the track day season. Apparently it was a case of asking at the right time.
