Hi Guys,

in light of my other post comparing acb10s with kumhos.... i am tempted to try the kumho's on track so i know for sure how they fair against the acb10s...

anyone have a pair of 215 13" fronts and 235 13" rears ??

Mark.

they are *massive* fronts on a caterham. what size rims are you running?! No understeer there then, even with the bar on full stiff!

Ask the same question at www.Blatchat.com on the Lotus 7 club & sure you will find a well used set of soft's in that size.

Mark I've used Kumhos for the past two seasons, the softs are too soft for more than a few laps on track as Sam has said.

The mediums would be OK on a medium powered or bike engined car otherwise you'll need the hard compound.

I suspect they're too narrow for you (unless you have a spare set of rims) but I have a set of part used medium compund tyres on the for sale section of Blatchat which are 175 fronts and 215 rears so 6.5" & 7.5 -8.5" rims needed idealy. Would be a cheap way of finding out if you like them.

thanks adrian

i relaly need the wider sets... i can make the rear down to 9" so end up with 8" front and 9" rear which woudl suit them ok..

well.. i have changed the inners on one pair of the rears to make them 9" now rather than 10" so i can test the acb10s...

within reason i can make them whatever size i want as they are 3 piece rims..

Ive raced on 215 fronts (7.5 rim) and 235 rears in Medium compound (8.5" rim) in a 300bhp Caterham and find them fine in a 20 min race, and they offer more grip than any other tyre ive used (never tried acb10s though) Ive also heard bad reports about the soft compound kumhos for racing but are supposed to be really good for sprints?

hey up Mr C

i tested on saturday on acb10s and loved the feel... but woudl still ike to test the kumhos as a 'wet' tyre... hence woudl use the softs for that.. but only use if proper wet - standing water.. which the acb10s are not exactly renowned for

Hi Mark I was only very briefly on Kumhos in mediums (in my 1550cc busa) when I got caught in a rain shower at Croft and it was scarey, was actually pleased when the engine broke down and it stopped spin couple of lads in fishers were flying though but pretty sure they were on softs confused fwiw I always found 888s predictable in the wet not brilliant but I run them at a wet Anglesey all day when i had nothing esle and was happy with them.

yep - dito... i ran 888s on the striker last year wet or dry and found them absolutely fine..

have heard the soft kumho's are proper race wet compound.... so must be fairly good - as the std tread pattern on them looks to be able to shift water well
