My R500 has a function for a lap timer built in, but I guessing, none of the add ons neccessary to make it work.

What would I need to make it work? Would it rely on a trackside beacon or magnetic strips in the circuit.

Usually the beacon is used. I think the connector for the receiver is in your loom and hence it'll just be plug and play.

If not you'll need to wire in (solder) a sureseal mini connector, not a huge job if you are familiar with a soldering iron. All the receiver does is in fact to short circuit the button on your dashboard.

Unless you are racing or on test days, you may be challenged to do lap timing at a (UK) circuit!

The function is already hidden away in the Stack display, the new receiver will be tucked away out of sight and I won't tell anybody if you don't

It's an interesting subject, but I for one wouldn't want the organiser's public liablity insurance to be compromised, would you?

Most circuits turn the beacons of on trackdays and beaons on the pitwall are not very subtle.

Pointless timing on a trackday anyway as your not at ten tenths and some monkey useually fouls the lap anyhow.....
