Best diff oil for ZF plate diff
Discussion
Hi. Following a recent post on BC, Peter C recommended specific oils for ATB and non plate LSDs, GL4 from memory. He said these were not to be used in plate diffs.
Does anyone have any knowledge what *type* (rather than brand) of oil would be the best choice? I suppose Phil @ R&R may be worth a call?

ZF Plate types work perfectly well and suffer no side effects using standard Castrol EP80/90 oil. Mines only had one set of plates in 15 years of hard use on this type of oil.
i.e. stick with GL4 rather than move to GL5 (or 6)?I understand the sulphur content present in most GL5 oils can attack the brass metal parts in diffs?
