Morning,

I have search the archives but to no avail. I have only driven a Cat once, but that was an SV so hard to compare.

On a normal Caterham is just under 6.2 with size 12 feet and 16.5 stone do-able in a Cat?

No point in looking for a Le Mans chariot if it is not feasible.

Yes, lowered floor is a big help tho & may want to remove runners off the tillet & bolt directly on the floor as i had to, I found K series cars had more foot room than live axle cars, gives an extra pedal position back I belive.

Definitely. i am 6'2" with size 12 feet and a bit more weight than you(!) and I prefer the snugness of the standard chassis rather than the SV.

Have a look around a few cars. If you find one with Tillets, this will probably give you an extra inch or two in the cockpit anyway and you can improve the available space by fitting washers/spacers (1-2" with longer bolts) under the front of the seat to increase the rake and this allows longer legs to fit better.

Dude, I can match you and raise you!

I'm 6'5 1/2", size 13 feet, and at my peak was around 19 stone (now 16.5). I've got a Superlight R (std S3 chassis) with a -50mm lowered floor (std lowered floor) and use the pedals on their middle setting. I use a custom PU seat and have a custom SLR cage from caged (+100mm in the uprights). 2 up is sometimes interesting as I'm fairly wide!

You don't need an SV unless you really want the extra space.

I tend to agree with Fergus. I am 6'5" and 18st and while I have an SV, I can drive a S3 car - although I find the SV a better fit.

You really need to sit in one to know though as your enjoyment will depend a lot on where your eyeline is through the windscreen. I am longer in the back than the leg and the problem with a standard car is that my eyeline was through the top of the screen surround, which would have annoyed me somewhat!

Make sure you ask where the pedals have been set to - they can go in 3 positions.
