Would someone mind pointing me in the right place or enlightening me on how the C02 exhaust test applies on caterhams. With a range of engines from crossflow/VX/K etc through to zetec, how do the rules apply?

If it's Q-registered, the MOT should be visual smoke test only.

Otherwise the emissions limits are the same as for any 'normal' car of the same age.

In addition to that I understand that for emissions purposes only, kit car and amateur built cars first used before 1 August 1998 are to be considered first used before 1 August 1975.

If a vehicle is first used before 1 August 1975 then visual smoke test only.

My '93 x/flow is only ever tested as smoke only and this has never been queried.
