Any ideas what I this car would be worth with the current market conditions in mind:

Hi

It does not say when this car was built! It could be 5-years old and just been coverted to a new engine spec.....

3x miles on the clock does not mean that the car has not been racing and has only had a speedo fitted for the SVA? Mileage is only recored from registration.

The description is very brief for a newly spec'ed car and can be read a number of ways.

Why is a brand new car with 3x miles on the clock being Valeted?

ABS and Anti-Lock Brakes is a new one on me for a Caterham.

I would be asking a lot of questions before bidding and would even travel to see the car before making a closing bid.

There isn't even a registration number for you to do a finance and other checks if it is brand new.

Did it pass the SVA? Is it registered? What is the build quality like? is the new car registration tax to pay?

It loks like an Academy car to me. Right time of year for the first to start appearing. If its passed the SVA that the build quality can't be that bad. You could always get Caterham to do a post build check if your that worried.
Valet - posh way of saying wash
I think it would be worth £18-19k as you would have had to pay Caterham £3k to build it.
Why not ask for the chassis number and get in touch with Caterham and ask about it. They may of had it back for a post build check.

Don't know what its worth but he is doing an incredibly bad job of advertising it properly. If you were buying it to race (and presuming it is what he says it is) it would only be eligible under the Caterham championship for Road Sport B next year though unless they let you in the academy.

Dunno about that . . . there are loads of championships it would be eligible for, including the Caterham Graduates where there is a new Supergrad Sigma class (well, you'd have to fit A048-Rs, but that's all).

Flipping heck why can't these things be simple. I'll just wait for another to come around when I have time to properly investigate I guess.

Looking at the car and info it is a brand new Academy car. That means its the most basic version you could ever hope to own. No problem if your racing it in the academy or you just want a new Caterham road car, but if you have any racing or track day plans for this toy, there are cheaper more practicle ways IMO.

Personaly I think about £16K without the academy racing entry etc more with it. The reason is simply because it is slow as Caterhams go, has van tyres as standard and no rear anti roll bar so to make it into a decent track day car or a competitive racer you will have to spend a little money on it or get fustrated!

It is however, brand new, latest engine and chassis so should hold its money better than most for a few years when the tyres and rear anti roll bar have been fitted.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear the first time, but for the "Official Caterham" race series it would only be eligible for RSB.
