I am in New Zealand and own a Fraser Clubman. (www.fraser.co.nz )I want to modify my headlights so that they are easily removable for track days. At present they sit on small steel stands bolted to the subframe and are in turn bolted vertically through the top flat surface of the light-holding doohicky.(presumably very similar to Caterham et al) It seems to me that it should be a simple matter to replace the threaded nut with a circlip and rubber washer or somesuch (you can tell I'm not an engineer?)so that I can remove the entire headlights from their mountings at will. The electrical side of it should be simple enough-presumably just four little connectors. Anyone done this? If so, could you provide me with details, in language consistent with my lack of mechanical expertise. Ta Much, Roger

I'd have a word with Kaspa who posts here, and more (as do I) on OzClubbies.com. There's several hundred clubbies owners there who should be able to help you out....

There's a fair few options, you don't mention if you're racing or not. CAMS rules in Oz make lights mandaroty (and then tell you to cover the -- go figure) but NZ's racing rules could come into effect.

Thanks Steve, I posted on the NZ forum and was advised that , for track days, yes, headlights ARE mandatory-see nz section and Kit Car section. It's all a bit odd isn't it? I've seen one guy turn his headlights around 180 degrees at a track day, but you can't take them off !
