I brought a car with a heated screen but it's not wired up.

The previous owner used the car with an aeroscreen more often than not and the heated screen wasn't a main concern.

Coming from the screen I have a blue wire (passenger side) and a black wire (drivers side).

I also have a black wire each side, also not connected up. Using a meter, It seems that I have a 12v readings both sides. This doesn't sound right.

I'm a bit hesitant to connect them up.

Can anyone run me through what wires to go their switch/ where the wires attach that come from the screen both sides.

Getting towards the time of year where a heated screen is useful!

Sounds about right, there are 2 seperate filaments in the screen so once bonded to earth via the uprights & chassis yes you'd need 12v on each side to heat the screen.

If they earth via the windscreen surround, that makes good sense.

Thanks for the reply.

Having given it a test, I don't think it's working.

Anyone got a picture of underneath their scuttle!?

I dont think a picture of the underside of a scuttle will help to be honest!

Can you not trace the fly leads from the windscreen heater switch? Mine appear behind the carbon 'knee panels' under the scuttle, these need to be removed to fish out the fly leads from the switch and then join up to screen wires with a chocolate block.

Edit to say when I get home from Paris later this week I'll dig out my build manual and check the wiring diagrams.

It doesn't use 2 lives - there should be a live connection (green with a pink trace on recent cars) on the drivers side, and a black earth on the other side.
