Charity Caterham Weigh-In
Find out how little (or how much) your 7 weighs
Free on November 1st? Got a Caterham or Lotus 7? Then we know of an event just for you. The Reading, Hampshire and Berkshire section of the Lotus 7 club (dubbed ‘ReHaB’) is organising a charity weigh-in for Lotus and Caterham 7 owners.
The event itself will take place at the LSI offices in Bracknell, where two sets of racing scales will be in attendance. One set will be run by Gary May from Freestyle Motorsport. Gary has a wealth of experience setting up race cars and has a brilliant line in Caterham 7 suspension upgrades, too.
Owners are invited to pop their cars on the scales and weigh up once, then ‘flat-floor’ their cars and have another go. The proceeds of this event are going towards local Braknell charity, The St. Luke’s Cancer Fund.
As far as food goes a staple breakfast of bacon sarnies in the morning, followed by a BBQ in the afternoon, will be served up in the name of charity. It’s due to start at 10am on November 1st and finish at around 4pm ,and takes place at: LSI Logic Europe Limited, Greenwood House, London Road, Bracknell.
They’re expecting around 30 cars, but the message is: more the merrier!
1. It's raising money for a Cancer Hosiptal in Guildford, one that is currently treating my Father. And also one that has been treating the Chefs family members.
2. It's a bit of a laugh, a pi$$ take, your car is heavier than mine type of thing. There will be a blat before, and after. It's just the result of a bit of pub banter. These cars are all about light weight fun, some people take it to extremes.
There is also advice (once the car has been weighed) by Freestyle Motorsport on the best way to set up your car for track, so there is some good too.
It's just for fun for a good cause, stop being so Bah Humbug
Cheers

It's not just the outright weight it will also be adjusting the set-up to improve handling hwich I thought PH'ers would understand? Guess you're all Saxo drivers?
And if they were saxo drives, doesnt that fit in with the caterham ethos? light wieght and fun? which is exactly what a caterham is!
Sorry if my post caused offence, i was just having a little joke, as everyone else was! This is a very good cause and i am sure the event will be a laugh!
Some people could realy do with a sense of humour transplant! chill out man! surely thats the whole point of an event like this anyway? have a laugh and raise money!
This is just the equivilant of going on to a rolling road for power except we are going on scales to check weight. Then, when we go on the rolling road, we get an accurate power to weight ratio.
Plus we get help setting the cars up for track work.
Relax, life's too short.
Cheers

Secondly I've never owned a Saxo I have, however, owned a Dutton Phaeton, a Sylva Strker & a Westfield SEi......but sadly not a Caterham.
