Foam seat / foam base for Tillet - ref MOT
Discussion
I need to squeeze another 10-20mm of height between the top of my race helmet and the top of the rollcage, so I can meet the MSA 5cm clearnace regulation.
Someone has suggested the idea of taking the tillet seat I have out, removing the mounting rails and re-fitting it back in the car so the base of the seat is on the car floor, but supported all round by a foam filled bag (like a foam race seat, but with the tillet as the 'liner'). This should give another 10-15mm of cockpit depth.
This sounds a great idea, but someone else has raised the issue of what an MOT tester might think to this arrangement.
Does anyone know what the MOT regulations and tests are (or more importantly what the average MOT testers opinion is) with regards to foam race seats or foam mounted shell-type seats?
I really like the Tillets and don't want to use a bare foam bag seat if possible.
