Trackday advice?
Discussion
I've signed up for my first Trackday later next month, since that's one of the key reasons I bought the car (1.6 K-series, ex-SuperGrad car, shod with AO48's). The event is an open pit-lane session at Elvington, The circuit is coned on a wide runway and (hopefully) there is little chance of damage if you run off.
I wondered if anyone had any advice/words of wisdom on taking part in such a Trackday (I've arranged insurance, bought a helmet and will thoroughly check fluid levels and tyre pressures beforehand).

Airfield surfaces are usually quite abrasive so watch out for tyre wear; keep an eye on your rear view mirror as this is usually forgotton by novice drivers; don't be tempted to drive over cones as they'll take a rear wing off; & finally enjoy yourself.
What he said! If you can take a passenger, and get them to keep an eye out for faster traffic - if they spot something and you haven't done what you need to, they can give you a tap on the shoulder - we did this at our first day and whilst we didn't need it much, it is a nice confidence boost that you have it!Main thing is enjoy it - best non naked days I have had have been on track!
Thanks for the advice and feedback guys.
>>Is the insurance expensive?<< £60 for half a days' cover for up to £5k damage with a £500 excess.
>>Is noise a problem?<< I hope not... the noise limit at Elvington is a strict 98dB, my car now has a standard Caterham exhaust with Cat fitted (it used to have a race exhaust which was verrryyyy loud)and reading Blatchat should now be around 95dB - 98dB. Fingers crossed I should be just ok.
