Okay i know noisy hpc is normal especially on 45 webbers, I'm talking a more tappety noise than before, Not long back from a 3300 mile trip into france, italy and switzerland, on initial long blat down thru france(Calais to Bergerac), ran a little low on oil,ie down to minimum. maybe i'm paranoid but definately sounds more tappety than before. have kept topped up since . is it something to worry about and is it easily sorted. 2.0 red top by the way?
used about 1 and a bit litres of mobil 1 over course of trip. and did 1000 miles in one day after wife left passports in hotel safe and realised just as we were aproaching ferry.mmm it was pissing down as well, return trip to south of Reims then back again all in thunder storms.... oh joy then home to a wet blighty and more rain all way up A1m. journey time 13.5 hours. 1007 miles. and no aches and pains.

No I wouldn't worry about it. Mine gets quite tappetty especially after prolonged motorway or track work.
As long as you keep it topped up with Mobil 1 Motorsport you'll be fine. You probably know this already but if you haven't already had the cam cover modiified (SBD) then do it as it mitigates oil surge and you should always overfill against the dipstick as the sump is a different shape to the original hence the reading is not entirely accurate

Cheers bobo w, tell me more about the mod, not sure if mine has had it done, are they self adjusting tappets on a red top do you know.
bought the car in feb and have done 9000 miles with no bother at all. did drain the catch tank shortly after buying it as it was full. will check to see what its like now. Its not dry sumped and i do tend to corner with Gusto
