When checking the compression on my 1700 Xflow I find that pots 1 & 2 show a reading of 5 whilst 3 & 4 show a reading of 7. I have no idea what the compression should be but the car is running ok. Is this something I should be concerned about?
It would be more usefull if you could state what psi that is on your gauge. As long as the highest and lowest is about 10-12% difference then there is nothing to worry about.
Thanks. Cylinders 1 & 2 read 72 psi, 3 & 4 read 116 psi so 1 & 2 are about 38% down. I have modified a spark plug so I can hook up my compressor to it and pump some air into the chambers. I suspect some valves are not seating properly.
I tested cyclinder 1 and get air escaping alright. I cannot tell whether it is going into the inlet or exhaust manifold but it is going somewhere so it looks like the head has got to come off.
