Drift Day booked!
Discussion
Just booked a Drift Day at Brands Hatch. Have never even driven a Caterham before, but this is a long-held dream so getting very excited.
Question: Will I want to sell my '88 Carrera 3.2 following the Drift Day and go and buy a Caterham?
Next question: If answet to the above is "yes", then anyone want a part-ex in November?!?
;)

The drift day is great fun...I am currently trying to figure out if I can bear to sell the Chimaera to get a Caterham...they do seem like good fun!
Enjoy the day...it rained heavily on the day I went and it was still good fun - just a bit more tricky to avoid spinning (and I failed to avoid spinning a lot!)

Are the drift cars Sigma engined ones or still the K Series cars?
I'm not sure that you'll really get a good idea of these cars from a drift day - let us know how much time you actually got in the car though - I've never done one of these days but will book one if thes cars are Sigma engined and if I get more than, say 10 minutes' driving in the car.
...but should you sell your 3.2 and buy a 7? Depends on what you want from your car. I autotested my 3.2 several times for fun (I was a marshall and played around after the events). What I can say is that a 3.2 is useless as a drift/autotest car

The ones I used earlier this year were K-series. On the day I went we seemed to get a fairly decent amount of time in the cars (even though we did have a pause during v.heavy rain!). Obviously I'd have liked more time to play in the cars, but I didn't feel that I'd been ripped off at the end of the day.
You can't really get a good feel for them as road cars as they are set up for drifting - sticky tyres on the front and not so sticky on the rear and you don't really need to get out of first gear.
I really enoyed the day - just ended up a bit frustrated that my car control isn't better!
