Can you advise on insurance companies
Discussion
Hi,
Today I just bought my first Caterham. It's an R reg 1.6K.
I now need to make myself legal.
Can you recommend some insurance companies? The car will be driven by me and friend, both over 40. Mileage likely to be 3K and include a couple of track days each year. I live in Surrey.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

I have a year 2000 1.6 Superlight which is insured through Adrian Flux. I pay £250 a year for a 3k miles per year policy, including 2 named drivers. That doesn't include trackday cover however. Your best bet is to do a search on www.blatchat.com. There'll be plenty of info on there.
Cheers

The usual suspects are:
Competition Car Insurance
Adrian Flux
Richard Egger Insurance
Footman James
MSM
Hagerty
Osborne and Sons
I'm sure there are others and a good search of Blatchat should find those. You'll also see lots of discussion on the pros and cons of each which should serve to confuse you! If you want track day cover then not all of the above will cover you so check carefully (one makes you choose between trackday or windscreen!). Limited mileage policys are normal with Caterhams and 3000 is about the lowest so should get you a low premium. Windscreen cover is important as a new heated screen is nearly £300!
