Discussion
Awesome video on the Autocar website of the new R500 vs. a Ducati Hypermotard at Millbrook. Check out how much air he catches!!!

That is absolutely brilliant.
I don't care what all the "Home builders" keep saying about how the cars they built in their sheds have more power, you can't argue that i am yet to see a review of the R500 that hasn't been good.
If anyone has read autocar today this quote sums it up:
"Right now we are not sure that another car on this earth is faster that the Caterham R500 from point to point"
And now a quote from me:
"I want one so bad it hurts"

The R500 is the don isn't it, fabulous car.
I really wish they had used a proper superbike though, like a Fireblade or GSXR. Ducati Supermotard isn't really in the same league.
On the millbrook course they used, I don't think you'd eeek much more out of a sportsbike. I have a friend who's raced at the daytona 200, and can hustle a BMW 1200GS faster than most gixxer thou/R1/'Blade riders on any twisty road!I really wish they had used a proper superbike though, like a Fireblade or GSXR. The std R500 has puny rear tyres (I think CR500s), which are a) probably not enough to contain the power, b) not that grippy anyway compared with the sort of tyres you could run on that car - given it won't be an everyday car, why not run something a bit wider & stickier. It's moving around a fair bit in that video, mostly down to the tyres...

Would a superbike really make up 13 seconds on the r500 though - that is a monumental margin.I really wish they had used a proper superbike though, like a Fireblade or GSXR. Ducati Supermotard isn't really in the same league.
