Has anyone experience this - took my 98 vvc 7 to the MOT centre on friday and it failed on hand brake! Seems the rear near side is not gripping as tight as the left - in fact on one click of the hand brake, the rear right is fairly moveable, but the left is very tight - has anyone experienced this before?

I've been playing around with the cable adjuster by the diff, but this just limits the travel of the lever and brings the pads on the left wheel closer to the disk (although does tighten up the other wheel a bit).

I've fitted new pads for both rear wheels around 3k miles ago (no track miles) and they still look fine - guessing this is either something to do with the cable itself - or perhaps the caliper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Make sure the levers are in the full return position on the callipers. Often the the cable has been adjusted to much and stops the calliper auto adjuster from working.

had this on a MR2 - changed the cable as it wasn't giving it's full movement which helped a bit but ultimately had to get a reconditioned caliper as it wouldn't give it's full clamping force.
