.... did a great job rebuilding my gearbox after another well known gearbox specialist (based near kent) fitted the cheaper argentian baulk rings (which end up binding on to the dogs and preventing quick gear changes).

Another well known specialist based around the midlands (who runs a race team) fitted gearbox oil that was so thick, it barely drained out....

Dave (Ketteridge) also went over the rest of the car, giving it a sanity check and adjusting minor things. Dave's attention to detail meant that he took apart the CRB and packed it with decent grease prior to fitting it to the car. I've not seen anyone else bother doing this.

In *my experience*, some of the other 'specialists' out there seem to only lavish care on your car if you're one of their regulars, or run your car exclusively through them......

Big thumbs up to TFM (and Dave K).

Intersting, what type of gearbox was it, thinking of having my 6 speed overhauled and was going to take it to the obvious place that is known for looking after 6 speeds and LSD, is that who you took yours too? are talking about?

Yes, I had historically taken mine down to the place I think you're referring to, and forced them to rebuild the box after a trip to the Ring where the box got abnormally hot, and when the 4th to 3rd (at high road/engine speed) problems started to occur. PM me if you want the name of the 1st place that rebuilt it (3 times now!)

My box is a 'caterham' 6 speed. My diff is a ZF plate LSD. This was OK, with preload within tolerances. All UJs greased, and rear main seal (engine) and gearbox output shaft seal also checked.

Dave also balanced my TBs, which were quite a long way out. The car now idles very smoothly and has far better snap throttle response.
