Yippee,Well folks bought the Hpc as planned and picked it up from Doncaster last Friday, had planned to make a roundabout trip back home thru the Peak district but with a storm brewing and black clouds gathering decided to make my way home straight back up the M1 Roof off, what the hell, I wasnt about to let the weather spoil the moment.

Oh the noise!! just love it. Nice and comfy too even for me at 6'1, Glad i remembered my narrow shoes tho!

what a blast, i have wanted one since i can remember, I'm sure it is a build up to a day that a lot of owners experience, I have loved every part and enjoyed every moment of the build up to the big day, I knew i wouldn't be disappointed and I'm pleased to report that N7 HPC is an absolute Cracker. Jag racing green with Yellow band and stripe. 14" minilghts black s type leather int, momo wheel, stack tacho, change lights,3d mapped xe 2.0ltr 190 bhp, BGH gearbox, lsd, still not sure about the Flares, kinda like em kinda dont if you know what i mean.

Have taken lots of people for a blast and none of them can get over the acceleration, even took my 73 year old mum out and gave her a taste of flat out in 2nd and 3rd which she thankfully thought was hilareous i'm now famous on the Yours forum!!!, she did used to ride a Triumph Tiger 500 with side car tho ... now that was scary, used to lean it round right hand bends! any way i feel a sit in the caterham coming on, in my nicely repainted heated garage, must take the lap top and speakers with me, and a few beers, and some more polishing cloths!! am running out of things to polish, cheers folks plan to join lotus 7 club asap.be seeing ya!Trotsky.driving

Yes, the pump is noisy and itcks all the time. Unless you have hairier cams, it won't produce 190 bhp from 45s....so I'm guessing the cams aren't standard HPC....same spec as my old car save for the clams (mine had a 6 speed 'box too - mad!!!....)

I take it the flares are the front fenders/wings? If you mean what I think you mean, they are often referred to as 'clamshells' (as opposed to cycle wings which just cover the front wheels).

Personally, I really like them. Not least because the "fashion" at the mo' seems to be towards cycle wings. Plus, the clamshells look kinda old-fashioned and gentle, which is a nice bit of incongruity with a really quick car.

Somebody will be along in a minute to post that clamshells produce lift, and we can re-open that old can of worms. rolleyes

Yes bikemonster, I agree re the clams, like them more and more mainly for the very reasons you state, have had several comments on the "it doesn't look very fast" front which always ends up with "blimey" or words to that effect. going to keep them for a while, not noticed any problems with lift and i have been out in the very recent gales round these parts(bingley, skipton area) but am still getting to know the car and may not be aware of how it should feel when giving it the beans, just feels incredibly torquey and f in quick, oh and loud in a very nice way.

I remember the Can of Worms from earlier posts, always good to read others opinions wether I agree with em or not!tongue out

Stay with the flares for a while at least. I had them on the wife's last car and nver experienced any lift even at some high'ish 3 figure speeds. Your HPC looks well in the classic colours too smile Like Rubystone, I had an HPC too before the K series cars and it was a superb road car and did quite a few touring trips to Le Mans and around the UK

Trotsky...your post really made me smile as I was in exactly the same position as you three years ago. I've loved Sevens for getting on 20 years now and wanted an HPC for over ten years and finally, at the ripe old age of 30 I realised my dream (this was/is my first Caterham). Mine too has flared wings and I love them, for me they are part of the appeal given that I grew up loving Caterhams when flares were the done thing and cycles were really just for race cars. After 3 years and 10k miles I never tire of the fun and friends that these cars bring, not to mention acceleration!

As Ruby says, join the club and get out there. I've done two of the International Swiss Trips, Le Mans and also doing the classic Le Mans this year with the club not to mention so many other great days out.
Well worth it.
Sounds like you have a good one there!
Enjoy! thumbup
