Help Seeing the car that I want to insure is not that different.

Just had a quote from AON for a couple of different options on the Ginetta G4 (Basically a Caterham with more clothing) and was rather surprised.

Having just had my Lotus Exige insured with then as a second car for S&D only and used only as a second car for pleasure, with an estimated average of upto 10,000 miles a year. I have a full 10 years no claims and a clean licence. The car would spends most of the year in a garage that has dead bolts and a monitored alarm system.

They wanted just as much but for the G4 but restricted to a maximum of 5000 miles.

So for half the risk and mileage in a car that is no faster on the road than the Exige, They want as much for the same value of car.

Even on a second hand car with much less value it is not much better with even less risk.

When asked why they say that we don't take no claims in to account when quoting...

So I was wondering who you guys use?

You don't have a link do you? I have just gone through 5 pages and couldn't spot it.

Cheers

I use MSM: they were inexpensive and knew about Caterhams...

MSM are good, but they don't cover track days.

Here is the link to the current blatchat discussion, and in that thread is a link to the 7 FAQ on insurance
