Over-wintering 7's
Discussion
I plan to give my Supersport one last blast (if dry) this weekend, followed by a thorough clean and polish; before putting away in the garage until the spring.
This is my first winter with a Caterham- are there any tips I should be following?
I am wondering about fuel levels, tyre-pressures, battery connected or not (unfortunately we can't put a trickle charge on as we don't have mains supply in the garage). Is there anything else we need to think about?
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers

General consensus is that you should have minimal fuel in the tank as fuel goes "off" when stood for a while.
Tyres should be over inflated to prevent flat spots.
Take the battery off the car and put a battery conditioner on it for the winter, maybe keep it in the house or somewhere warm if its off the car anyway.
After washing the car, I always try to run the car around the block (gently to avoid getting it dirty or you have to start again!) to get water off the brake pads and discs and then leave it to warm up well for a while to dry any moisture on the engine.
Thoroughly clean the area around the front suspension and wishbones. I have got the rear wheels off my car at the moment too to clean under the arches and wipe the chassis area whilst I can. If your car has got a polished alloy surround and headlights, give them a decent polish with autosol and likewise polish the car too with a decent product.
Finally make sure you leave the car without the handbrake on and that should do it
Failing that you could take it out over the winter on some of the best blatting days there are, when its sunny, crisp and very cold and it blows the cobwebs away. Just make sure you give it a good wash and dry when you get back.

The flashpoint of petrol goes off after several months, so leave as little in the tank as possible.
Leave the car on axle stands, so the tyres won't develop "flat spots"
Disconnect your battery and take it with you into the house, put the trickle charger on a timer and treat to a 30 minute charge every day, or better still buy an accumate.
Personally I would keep it on the road and give it a 20 minute run once a week, whenever the weather is fine and there is no salt on the roads....Cars don't really like to be laid up too long.....
