How do I read this temperature guage ?
Discussion
Does the big dash half-way between 80 and 120 correspond to 100 ?
Or do the little dots mean you count back 110, 100 making the big dash 90 ?
And I suppose the crunch question, if you are sitting in traffic in your K series Caterham and the temp keeps rising, at what point would you switch if off ?
Finally, what temperature is the fan switch supposed to come on at ?
cheers
Roger
No specifics, but ...most vehicle temp gauges are not especially accurate. Pay more attention to the trend than to the number.
Learn where your car's gauge sits when the car is "happy". Any other temperature (higher or lower) is cause for concern.
Bear in mind that the cooling system is pressurised, so it will only boil on the warm side of 100 deg C.
