Interested in buying one of these engines. Does anyone know of an archive of the numbers stamped on these units- so I can check that it's the real thing and not just a Caterham rocker cover (btw- Caterham can't help). thanks
If it was bought/fitted with the car the engine number Caterham stamps in matches the chassis number, at least in 96. Beyond that you need to measure cylinder bore and/or valve lift to be certain. Carb jets will be different as well.
You would probably be better off with an engine that isn't orignal Caterham, and one that has had some updates from a rep builder. Such as slightly hotter cams, forged pistons, lightned flywheel etc.
