R400. Silencer Advice Appreciated.
Discussion
Hi Guys. With my new R400 arriving from the factory very shortly I'm already thinking of ways of improving it and my first task is going to be to reduce all those hideous drainpipes slung on the side. It's coming with a Caterham cat. by-pass pipe so that's one bit gone but I'm still left with the main box and revolting heat shield. I'm sure I've seen a really nice carbon box somewhere - does anyone know where to get them? I'd like it to be track day friendly - although I'm not too bothered about the stricter venues like Goodwood or Coombe which I can live without.

Although it is possible to make a durable silencer from Carbon it isn't easy and you have to have one made from the right type of resin. The original press R500 had a carbon exhaust sleeve but it wasn't durable enough so it was replaced with titanium.
All report of the Raceco suggest it is not cheap, but the engineering, noise reduction and customer service more than justify the price. It will also give you a bit of a weight saving.
