2-Eleven v CSR 260
Discussion
Not sure if anyone has done this already, but who would win? Saw the Lotus at Motorexpo and their guy reckoned the Lotus would win... I'm not saying for one second the 7 is unbeatable, but I think it would be a tough one to call... or would it?
More importanly, when are we gonna see it!

lotus reckon the new car is fater than a Radical... hmmmmmmm
given that it takes 300+bhp honda engined stripped out and heavily race tuned suspension exiges to get close to a stock R400 time i would think the new 1-11 will probably manage to match an R300
last time I looked a CSR will run a 1.12 at Donnington National. The lotus would be lucky to do ~1.17 imo. Not a hope.

The 1:12 is for a CSR Masters Eurocup car on slicks (?), not a standard road CSR.
I am Caterham biased but I reckon the Lotus would have the edge due to downforce on faster corners, the performance figures seem relatively similar.
yeah, i meant the Lotus on slicks as well ! Rest of the masters car isn't that far off a road car IIRC. I am Caterham biased but I reckon the Lotus would have the edge due to downforce on faster corners, the performance figures seem relatively similar.

well, i think it will be inetresting to find out. But just look at the seloc series times and the monster spec of the front running cars (which look way way more developed, race-honed and meaty than a factory 1-11). I think it will do very well if it matches road/ACB10 R500 times personally.

downforce ?
has it got wings ?
The 2-Eleven has a rear-wing, and a decent body, compared to the Cat which actually generates lift at high speed (50lbs at 100mph)has it got wings ?
even if the 1-111 has useable downforce it will be doing well to be just enough to cancel out the huge power/ton defecit it has comapred to a fast cat. Look at the weight and the power, it is starting the contest very severely handicapped.

Oh and the KTM, come on, anyone who even thinks about that should get their head checked, can't believe its actually being compared here.

Can't see the point of it - the 2-Eleven - myself. If you want total focus and ultimate speed on track you'll probably tow a Radical to the circuit. If you want to go nearly as fast but probably have much more driving fun AND the practicality of being able to drive to the 'Ring etc. you'll get a Caterham. In reality due to lack of any weather gear not many people will go far in the Lotus so you end up with a track only car - which isn't actually a good as a pure track car. Can't see that it's going to have the essential 'fiddle factor' either. I haven't even got my new R400 yet and I'm already planning all sorts of little tweaks and mods for it that'll keep me happy for years - rather than having the rush out and replace it with the 'next big thing' in 12 months time.

IF that's true then I'd say Lotus are missing the point of track day cars - for me at least. I've owned and raced a Radical and the latest aero package means that a corner like Coram is basically a matter of hanging on and how big you balls are - challenging yes, fun? not so sure - whereas the same corner in a Caterham is a never ending series of 'moments'. Great!!Edited by SimonY on Friday 29th June 02:45
