big feet, small pedal box
Discussion
I tried a roadsport supersport and an academy (both trad. narrow bodies) on Saturday. Even with UK11 sparco race boots, my foot going down on accelerator kept brushing, sometimes moving the brake pedal. Do people cut down the brake pedal ? Can the brake pedal be moved slightly towards the clutch pedal ?
cheers
Roger
PS - don't really want a fatboy SV ;-)

Whilst at the Kit Car Live thing at Brands (whilst most every other 7 was at Donnington!) I stuck my head down a few footwells. The results were that the three other 7s that I saw had equidistant spacing between pedals with both the clutch AND the brake pedal joggled over to the left. My Roadsport had a joggled clutch, but a straight brake. This straight brake meant not even a bare foot would squeeze between panel and brake.
Took pedal box cover off, brake out and after working the shift to the left, used a highly technical process..errhhum.. to give the brake two bends.
What I don't know is if my pedal wasn't bent by the factory or whether it's a mod that all have done.
Anyway - that's the answer.
Lucky.

Like Gareth said, it’s all down to the shoes. There’s been a few postings on here of people with similar sized feet to yours claiming they have no problems. I’m only a size 9½, but even some so-called driving shoes catch the brake pedal. Puma Speedcats give no problem being a good quarter inch narrower, or Hi-Tec Squash Classic if you’re a cheapskate (only £15 in the right shops!!)
Have a look on the Lotus 7 Club site as there are some threads under Tech-Talk mentioning being able to move the pedals sideways slightly via washers.
