Hello chaps,
First time on here, normally found over with the Ultima crowd.
Been thinking for a while of how to get my G/F into trackdays. She's driven the Ult and is more than capable, but I'm just not 100% comfortable with her in in it (I think it's the 'I don't mind if I break it' scenario).
So, though a Caterham might hit the spot. Saw this yesterday and went to see it this morning. The thing hooked me and went like a kiddy in a sweet shop!! Snapped it up.

Will this do her?

Nice one Peter
Is his garage carpeted? Cream as well?
Indeed! And a matching powered go-kart. I searched all I could for drips or flakes of PC. But it has only done dry miles. He didn't give me any good neg nuggets and said he'd had a half dozen PHers mail him already. The car is mechanically mint though. Plenty of stone chips on the rear arches - but I guess that is par for the course. Is his garage carpeted? Cream as well?
Really don't know too much about them. What have I bought?

If it's a 6 speed you've done alright for your money
Nope - 5 speed. But it is sweet! Just reading The Magnificent 7 by Chris Rees. Getting upto speed with it all now. Seems as though I've stumbled into the right occasional trackday spec. Edited by LuckyP on Saturday 26th May 16:49

Almost - if it had a 6 speed you'd be right. You'll find that 5 speed ratios are a bit of a pain for the track but fine if you want to use the car for touring. My first 7 was a 5 speed Supersport - a good starter 7...

Cheers

The 6spd has two big advantages over the (std) 5spd - ratios that are well suited to the power delivery of the K and shift quality/speed.
The 5spd can be adapted to be much, much better. But you have to consider what application it was originally designed for...
However, any Caterham is a great place to be in comparison to normal cars. Enjoy it, and get planning your route through upgraditis!

Can someone give me rough length and width. I'm just juggling garage space and the Ultima is refusing to give up any room to the newbie!
Ta, Pete
Just googled and am using 3400mm x 1600mm. Sound about right? Basically means that I can keep the Caterham along side the Ult and still have the work bench at the rear. Was a squeeze with the maser - the lardy electrical disaster on wheels. Ha! She was achingly beautiful (IMHO):Ta, Pete
