Newbie looking for superlight advice
Discussion
Hello all.
Have now decided to get a more dedicated track car (and tow car) and sell my everyday all round car. The superlight R seems to fit the bill so am now in the process of finding out about them. Have done lots of searches here and on Blatchat so now looking at a few more specific questions. Also if there is anyone here in the Essex area that would be happy to take me for a quick test run it would be appreciated.
So questions as follows:
1 - What are the noise levels like and can they be reduced for the fun police?
2 - I know of a couple of cars described as ex racecar SLR's. Is there any difference between that and a road one?
3 - How many were made and do they come with an identity plate of some sort?
4 - Is there an alternative i should look at like buying a different model and converting to Duratec?
The car will be used for trackdays but still want it road registered for occasional summer use
Thanks in advance

1. can have problems with slrs and noise. mine never made 98db drive by at donny. Never went to coombe or goodwood although i doubt it would have got through. Get a arceco silencer and that will solve all isuues though.
2. lots of difference. SVAing a racer is one hell of a lot of time, money and hassle. dont go near it unless you definitely dont want to drive the thing on the road
3. yes, teh real ones have an identity plate. not sure on numbers but a search on blatchat will answer that for you (www.jackals-forge.com/lotus/mySLR.html)
4. unless you can find a used cutom duratec like teh one i just sold then no, not really. DIY avenue will be an old roadsposrts or a manky superlight and tehn at least 10k on teh conversion. so thats ~25k for a car thats not especially well specced or pristone. IMO, until a proper used market of series 3 duratecs is created, buying a new C400 actually makes a lot of sense.
