50 year anniversary of Caterham

Heard its Caterhams 50 year anniversary this year (September?) - anyone have some details on when exactly that would be? Thinking of making a trip up to England with a friend (Super7 owner) and was wondering when the best time would be to be up there!

Any ideas?

Depends what you mean by official, Caterham have got a celebration too. I am going to try to do both.

DONINGTON GOLDEN JUBILEE EVENT FOR EVERGREEN 7

The Caterham 7 celebrates its 50th birthday in 2007, and to commemorate its landmark year Caterham Cars is to host a Golden Jubilee weekend of Caterham racing action at Donington Park next summer. Scheduled for Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd June 2007. the Golden Jubilee event is the star feature of Caterham’s wide-ranging motorsport plans for the coming season and will bring together all of the manufacturer’s UK and European race series for a celebration of the world’s most-raced car.

“The three October Caterham Festivals held since 2000 proved fantastically successful and enormously popular with competitors and race-goers alike,” said Caterham Cars Director of Motorsport Magnus Laird, “and we felt that for the 50th birthday of the 7 a summer event would be an excellent idea, and Donington Park is a wonderful venue for it with its central England location and excellent transport links.”

The Caterham Festivals each attracted around 300 racing Caterhams, and it’s hoped that the Golden Jubilee will break all previous records, with races for the Eurocup & Masters, the Superlight Challenge, Roadsport and Roadsport B Challenges, the Academy and the three Caterham Graduates Club series, as well as open races and events for some of the 20 Caterham championships organised in 11 different export markets. The Golden Jubilee is just one facet of Caterham’s exciting motorsport plans for 2007, revealed this week.

I anticipate the official Caterham racing festival will attract far more, would it not have been sensible for the two to run alongside one another?

Could it be that Caterham believe their road and race markets attract very different people? I wonder how many people who polish their titanium bronze roadsters (or whatever) on a Sunday morning would have spent Saturday knocking the wings off around Brands. Perhaps they worry that the premium product image might be tarnished by the sight of our battered steeds sporting duck tape wings and seats made out of bin liners! (your's excepted of course Simon)

I think you are confusing the two events, one is held by the club which is the one out east and that will be a huge gathering of all types of Seven. The other is organised by Caterham and will feature all of their race series, plus I imagine all cars of road car displays etc. I saw a post from them on Blatchat suggesting they are preparing some kind of special car for that event too?
