Unfinished kit

Ive been an Elise owner for years and recently I've come across part built Caterham with a chassis number of SDKRLKGGSR 0308900.
Its mostly in bits and boxes, anybody any idea how to trace its background.
Basically all I know its Ford powered and black and ally finished and very very very dusty.
1700 crossflow, 4 speed rocket box, twin 40 webers I think, may be a Classic SE.
Im told it has no road milage and its open to offers.
Advice anyone.

The standard Classic SE came with a 1600cc Crossflow. I know, I own one. However, some owners may have opted for the more powerful 1700cc version of the Crossflow.
The Crossflow Classics were available from 1994 to 1997. In 1997 the Crosssflow was dropped (due to lack of supply - they were new-build engines coming in from South Africa) and were replaced by the 1600cc Vauxhall GTE.
Classic SEs of that era exhibit the following features -
100 bhp Ford Crossflow 1600cc (or 135 bhp 1700cc)
Twin Weber 40DCE carbs
Solid beam Morris Ital rear axle
Front Disc Brakes
Rear Drum Brakes
Full windscreen (the ordinary Classic came with Brooklands screens)
Sidescreens (not useable with the Brooklands)
Windscreen wipers (not useable with the Brooklands)
Hood (not useable with the Brooklands)
Spare tyre
Fixed Bench seats
They were usually fitted with flared front mudguards.

Thanks for that gentlemen but would you actually buy the box of bits bearing in mind its probably 10 years old and never been assembled.
I think I might, its time I had a project.
There is one snag however no assembly instructions so should be fun.

I'm sure Caterham could supply you with a copy of the Classic Assembly guide.
I didn't build mine so I don't have this book.
Tony Kneale's book on the Seven is pretty good for describing nad showing technical drawings for most Sevens up to the mid 1990s. However, it is currently out of print and copies are often for sale on e-bay for very silly prices.

I'm sure Caterham would supply a check list of what should have come with the car. If it were me, I'd check out what was missing first. Caterham will also be able to give you a price list for bits.
I'd also have a good check of key components (engine, gearbox, suspension parts, tyres etc. Unless stored properly, these bits could well cause you serious issues (i.e. extending costs!) if they aren't healthy.
It'd need to be very cheap IMO. But might make a nice curio to have a rand new, 07 (or whatever) registered classic 7.

From 7FAQ on the club website, the chassis number you quote is
SDKRLKGGSR 0308900

R Right hand drive
L Live axle
K Kit built
C (rather than G?) Completely knocked down kit i.e. not a starter kit
GS 100 BHP 1600 Crossflow
R 1994
With the remainder being the real chassis number reference.

Considering I'd never heard of Blatchat until you mentioned it its not really that surprising.
