Can anyone who's had one of these apart, tell me whether they are 'straight though' (as per a bike 'race can') or whether the two perforated tubes inside are arranged in an offset position, where they mildly overlap?

My car got blackflagged at Donington at the weekend due to excessive noise, so rather than go to the expense of buying a Raceco silencer off Ammo (circa £450), I was curious as to whether I could drill out the welds on my current silencer and repack it cheaply, then spot the end caps back on....? I can't see why I need to spend £450 to make the car look pretty down one side?!

If it is/was repackable, how much e-glass should I buy - or alternatively, what did you pack it with?

Any ideas?

Grads cars have a repackable decat exhaust, 200 quid from McMillan Motorsport... Although its worth pointing out that they don't last particularly long before they need repacking under race conditions hehe

Asked this question, I've got the 7 inch race can, and apparently its not very easy to do.

Its packed with wire wool, which in theory shouldn't need re-packing. Mines been good on a R300 for 5 years or so.

So when and if it goes, I'll probably just buy another can.
