Can anyone suggest a good place to get a black noseband painted on my SLR? Also if you were to hold a straight edge across the nose of the car, how far back does the nose band extend?

If this place were to be close to London, that would be helpful. thks

what sort of price does Tony charge to do a nosecone with a band at the front? How good is he at matching paint pigments?

I had mine done when my vehicle was in with Caterham and the cost was £117.50 inclusive of VAT this was painting a new nose cone so to paint and prep a old nose cone may be slightly more. I am very pleased with the finish and colour match looks so much better now then before when it was a bare carbon nose.

Any spray shop will be able to stick a nose band on. Its not rocket science!

Sorry no idea of prices but give him a bell and he'll advise over the phone. In terms of credibility, he does quite a lot of work for the factory and comes recommended by a number of L7C members - just do a search on blatchat and you'll see his name appears quite a few times !

Must admitt can't understand why you can't just walk into any paint shop in Yellow Pages and say stick a band on please?

.....because Tony will do me a cracking deal on other bits of the car, and as he paints fibreglass/GRP all day, he knows what he's doing. Most bodyshops only paint metal cars, which have different low bake temperatures.

Fair enough - I was responding to original question and hadn't noticed you'd narrowed it down since then - I'm one of those people who never read the questions on exam papers properly either!

Ferg,

Depends on the quality level you're after. But for a "race car" finish, I charge £150 for all 4 wings and the nose cone. Up to £75 a panel for top notch finish (stripes are extra but depend on whether you want the join hidden etc etc)

Cheers

Ben
