Just recieved my roll cage and de-dion tube and as the assembly guide is a waste of paper this year just wandered if anyone else has already fitted theirs for this year and have any tips before I start. I have the Metric chassis but Imperial tube.

Thanks

Just finished building mine, delivered it to CC today for a post build check and for them to sort out a misaligned chassis tube.

As for fitting the roll cage - I had to open out all four bolt holes in the saddle fixings to get them to line up with the chassis bush. I also had issues with the bolts that fit vertically upwards above the rear damper mounts. CC supplied reduced head, fine thread bolts - but these have now been replaced by coarse thread caphead versions. The moral is to prefit all bolts and check for fit before loading the cage onto the car.... Other than that it went on really well.

De Dion - all Academy cars will have the same DD (Imperial) It went on no trouble, it just took me a while to get the bottom damper bolts in line with their threaded mounting tubes. I sorted this by releasing the centre bolt on the A frame and twisting the DD tube. It was easy then to refit the bolt. Drilling out the A frame to take the imperial size bolt was straightforward.

Hope the rest of your build goes well

See you on track!

All the best John
