I have recently fallen in love with these cars. I want to get one but there are a few things holding me back.

1) Price the dealer in Delaware starts pricing at 40k and they don’t recommend a classic
2) Reliability imp not looking for a daily driver but i do want to be able to drive the car 500 miles between failures..
3) Availability i can’t find any in my area to actually go and see. I don’t want to go to the dealer... 23 year old guy won’t get no attention.
4) Technical ability, ive never built a kit car.

My background is water-cooled vw's 85-04ish. Ive been messing with vr6 corrados for about my entire car life (5 years). Ive stripped the down and rebuilt all but the motor and trans myself and created a stunning show car. I have a garage and i have my own tools.

My current project is a 93 vr6 corrado with a 3.0L forged pistons/ headwork built trans (lsd diff gearing). the car with water/alcohol injection should put down 3-350 whp and 450+ if i go air/water intercooled. the car has coilovers and other various upgrades.

the plan was to track (road race) and show the car.

the project has already cost me about 15k for body, paint, drivetrain and its not even together yet so i can see it being 20k when it’s all done.

what im asking really is should i drop the build and get a caterham?
can i get a used one that needs some love?

also, ive seen many in the FS going for under $10k euro. i can’t find anything even used in the usa for under 35k. do you guys know of any usa based forum? classifieds?

sorry for the long post. thanks in advance.

my last project
