When building a caterham is is best to put it on axel stands or tresssels?

The latter seem more expensive - but if it makes life easier......

Not much in it IMO. Trestles are probably safer whilst the car is light in the early stages, but axle stands are usually adjustable so you can alter the working height as necessary.

Third option, if you have the wherewithall - weld up a trolley with 4 castors from machine mart. Incredibly handy to wheel the car around the garage if space is tight.

I built my Six on a steel trolley with castors, welded up from an old bed frame and castors from Machine Mart. Being able to wheel it around and push it to the side of the garage was very handy and something I would do again. It also had a wooden shelf underneath for storing all the bits and pieces so I wasn't constantly treading on them.

Just make sure that your jack is able to raise it off the trolley or whatever when it's built! Also being able to adjust the height is good, particularly when dropping the engine in when you will want to have the front low and the back raised in order to line up the prop shaft and gearbox to chasis mounting point.

I built mine on axle stands, as it only takes 50-60 hours and it will have wheels on before the end, its not important (but nice to have it high). I took a week of work an eves the week before and the car was done. Other kit cars may take longer I guess and warrant tressles.
