Howdy,

Got a new flat-bottomed steering wheel for my R300 today as I wanted extra legroom. Only problem is my present momo wheel has been drilled with a 3 bolt pattern in a two down low and one high (triangle pointing up). The new one is the other way up, with two holes drilled high and the last hole drilled below (triangle pointing down). IYSWIM..

IS it just a question of rotating the column at the U-joint or do I need a need upper column with a new welded boss? I dont really care about the wide spline section as long as its not a safety issue where it is

Carsten, I don't know the answer, but have you posted on Blatchat - a much bigger audience there (with all due respect to those that use PH!)

Yes, you can just rotate the column.Put a dab of paint or mark on top of the column in line with the wide spline, this will mke it easier to line the s/wheel up when removing and refitting the s/wheel.

yep.. called ratrace and they confirmed what needed to be done (loosen alankey and locknut on clamp, remove lower UJ bolt at rack-end and slide it off splines, rotate it 180 and refit/tighten evrything again...hey presto one flipped QR boss)

Only problem is as I was putting bonnet back on, it starts chucking it down so I cant take it out to check it still goes straight.. hrumph..
