Hi all,

I have just written off my CBR600RR and have now re-evaluated my life and think that 4 wheels might be a better idea but still want to have fun. I have an Alfa 156 as a company car and the wife has a Corolla so this will be weekend fun. I am still umming and arring about 2 seats or not becuase i have a little girl, 18 months old.

I have driven a Caterham 7 at Brands hatch round the indie circuit and loved it. What is the difference between a Caterham and Westfield and others? What should i buy and why?

All help welcomed.

Cheers

Congratulations on the 156, I used to have a 156 v6 - fantastic car!

I went to look at a Caterham and a westfield and could tell the difference straight away. Mind uyou I seem to be able to spot a GRP car from a mile off.

If you are after a cheapish (5k) second car for fun then go for the westfield. If you can afford a little bit more say £7.5-£8k then you could opt for a crossflow Caterham either 1600 or 1700 cc.

You will probably get more Westfield for your money i.e. for £7,500 a zetec westfield (150bhp+) whereas you would only get a crossflow (110-135bhp) caterham. Nothing wrong with the crossflow but it is a dated engine. Do you like servicing/repairing your own cars?
