I need to make a seat (expanding polyurethane)for the passenger side of my R400. At present there is a bracing bar across and on top of the floor. Do I need to fit honeycomb to the floor to level it with the bracing bar or can I fit the seat straight on the floor?? If I have to get honeycomb any idea if there is an alternative supplier to Caterham??................not in stock at present.

I just leave my seat (made of shaped layers of 25mm karrimat equivalent) loose in the bottom of the car. That wy positioning the seat is easy, and it's easy to remove if the car get s soaked, etc. Once you're strapped in, the 'seat' shouldn't move at all anyway! Personally, I wouldn't stick one to the floor, expect maybe ith some velcro strips just to locate it. If you are made a PU seat, then it will naturally expand to fill the void in the passenger compartment around the occupant. you will find that this won't move around much either.

Yep, thanks for that Fergus. The drivers seat is fine and is not fixed in (but rests on honeycomb). The issue is.........can I rest the passenger seat directly on the floor or do I have to source some honeycomb first??

I rest my (drivers) seat directly on the floor. I think as the wieght is distributed evenly, you are unlikely to get an ar5e shaped bump in the floor! Or were you think more in terms of impact? Be aware that in most 7s, by the time the passenger gets scraping sound under their floorpan, the sump will be somewhere on the road behind you!
